Gerrard attracting negative press  After scoring two goals that saw Liverpool stayed on top of the Premiership heading into 2009 with a 5-1 victory over Newcastle, team captain Steven Gerrard was involved in an unconventional headline when he was arrested, together with 5 other men at the Lodge a pub turned club in Southport at Merseyside. According to the police, they are now investigating the brawl which involves the assault of the club DJ that took place about 2.30 in the morning after the Newcastle-Liverpool game.

A lot of people will tell you that that for the past 4 seasons, the team that topped the English Premier League table did went on to win the Premiership. So it is often with a lot of expectations that the busy Christmas weekend of football matches would have somewhat quench your thirst of games going on and how all the teams fared among one another while the rest of Europe sort of takes a break for the winter. All eyes were glued on the telly and some giant screens as the English clubs take on one another to see who would be on top going into the new year and then blow the title race into the open for the second round of the Premiership.
